About Us

The Del Norte Workforce Center is a One-Stop Career Center, operated by Rural Human Services. The Workforce Center is home to several main partners who work together to provide comprehensive employment and business services to job seekers and businesses of region.

RHS

For nearly 30 years, RHS has served individuals and businesses in Del Norte County. Our community outreach programs touch the lives of more than 2,000 people a month. Our professional service programs provide training, instruction, and assistance to individuals, organizations and local businesses.

RHS is an independent, non-profit agency, operated by a volunteer board of directors and a dedicated staff.

Programs of RHS include:

Harrington House: Our community’s resource center and shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children, including; a 28 bed emergency shelter, 24 hour crisis hotline, counseling, legal services, household establishment, outreach and prevention education. Last year, Harrington House provided over 2,500 shelter nights, and over 10,000 meals to persons and families in crisis. Harrington House emergency shelter is staffed 24 hrs/day, 365 days/year. Del Norte Workforce Center. RHS is a partner in the Workforce Center, helping businesses find great employees and helping job seekers find new or better jobs. Healthcare training scholarships and internships are available through RHS’ HOPE Program (Healthcare Occupations, Pathways, and Experience). The One Stop Career Center at 286 M St. in Crescent City offers every service a person needs to find a great job, including: Job Board listing of over 100 available jobs, computer resource lab to create resumes, cover letters, online job search and applications, Job Finders workshops, where 75% of all graduates find a job, and much more.

Hospitality 101: Training and consulting for businesses and employees of the Hospitality Industry of America’s Wild Rivers Coast. Hospitality 101 is a partnership of community colleges, chambers of commerce, visitor centers, businesses and other organizations in Curry and Del Norte counties. www.hospitality101.biz/

Independent Living: Life skills support to persons with developmental disabilities, helping people maintain their independent lifestyle.

Crescent City Farmer’s Market: RHS operates the Farmer’s Market, held every Saturday 9am-1pm, June – Oct, at the Del Norte County Fairgrounds.

Natural Resources: Watershed restoration and education, including the popular “Salmon in the Classroom” program, taught to hundreds of local 4th graders.

Food Bank: RHS operates both a monthly food bank and an emergency food bank. Monthly distribution of USDA food occurs in Crescent City, Bertsch Tract, Klamath, Smith River, and Gasquet. Emergency Food boxes are available throughout the month in Crescent City. A summer fresh food distribution of extra produce also occurs monthly.

Santa’s Workshop: organizes community support through “Giving Trees” to supply gifts to needy children during the holiday season.
